Our Story

Owner and videographer Don Ferlazzo is a Capital Region native educated in the East Greenbush Central School District. He attended Columbia High School, and discovered his love for video production when he revitalized the school's then-defunct Audio/Video Club in 2000.

Don Ferlazzo

After graduating from CHS in 2001, Don went to school at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where he studied television production and writing, graduating in 2005. During his time at Ithaca Don created and produced the original sitcom "By the Book" for ICTV, which went on to win the National Collegiate Broadcasters Award for Best Technical Production in 2004.

In 2005, Don moved from New York to Hollywood to pursue his dream of working in the television industry. While in California, Don worked on several network television productions, including "That '70s Show" on FOX, the Geena Davis drama "Commander in Chief" on ABC, the Courtney Cox drama "Dirt" on FX, and the acclaimed legal drama "Justice" on FOX.

In late 2007, Don moved back to Albany to marry his college sweetheart Jamie McGrath. Married in May of 2008, Don & Jamie had a joyous wedding day, but ran into difficulties with their videographer, spoiling an otherwise perfect event.

Don founded Hollywood Beginnings to offer Albany-area couples his expertise in video production, as well as the knowledge and understanding he gained by dealing with vendors from his own wedding. His experiences both in Hollywood and with his own wedding give Don a unique skill-set, allowing him to offer couples affordable, high-quality wedding videos with top-notch customer service.
